A Beijing BJ2021 Jeep, with a cumulative travel distance of 20000 kilometers, discovered high oil pressure while driving. The owner planned to take the car to a repair station for repair, but unexpectedly, the oil filter suddenly exploded halfway through the journey.

We arrived at the accident parking site according to the owner's requirements, and after dismantling and inspection, we found that: first, the oil filter bypass valve was blocked, second, the oil pump pressure limiting valve was stuck, and third, the oil was too dirty. In response to the above reasons, we mainly carried out two maintenance tasks: 1. Disassemble the oil pump, clean the pressure limiting valve, spring pin, spring seat, spring and other parts, and replace the damaged components. 2. Replace the oil filter assembly, drain the old oil and clean the filter, replace it with qualified new oil, and finally eliminate the fault.

So why did the oil filter explode? After dismantling and inspection, it was analyzed that the following reasons were caused: after the vehicle was put into use, the engine oil was not changed for a long time. Due to the dirty engine oil, the pressure limiting valve of the oil pump became stuck, resulting in excessive oil pressure. On the other hand, the bypass valve of the oil filter is also blocked, which led to an explosion accident of the oil filter.

Compared to other engines, this car only has one full flow oil filter. The oil filter is integral, that is, the filter element and housing are made into an assembly and cannot be disassembled. The filter element is a paper filter made of fiber pulp and treated with resin shaping. It has the characteristics of good filtration effect, low flow resistance, no fear of water, high strength, and light weight. But it cannot be disassembled, and the oil and oil filter assembly must be replaced according to the manufacturer's requirements.
